The career-building roadmap
You write, rehearse, release, post, promote and keep showing up. But what should you post? How do you build a fanbase, find better gigs and earn beyond streaming? Who should you talk to? How do you choose advice that’s worth listening to? AYV gives independent artists a practical way to understand the business behind the music.
The goal isn’t to turn you into a music-business encyclopedia. It’s to help you make smarter decisions about your career. A sustainable music career isn’t built from one viral post, one great song or one lucky break. It’s built intentionally, with practical learning and a clear plan behind your music.

Created from experience, not theory
Anisa Singh didn’t build AYV from theory. She brings more than 25 years of firsthand experience building bands from the ground up, performing across the U.S. and internationally, releasing and marketing music, creating multiple revenue streams and handling the business side of a music career.
Her work includes an award-winning Caribbean band she has fronted since 1999; co-founding, owning and managing the multi-genre American band Latitude28; and firsthand lessons from turning a garage-rehearsal band into a full-production international touring act. Her work has also included TV, radio and press, an Amazon Prime reality series, a U.S. tour produced during the pandemic, Times Square billboards and opportunities with Disney, Hard Rock and Margaritaville.
Anisa studied music business through Berklee and has training in coaching, psychology and human behavior, alongside further learning in marketing, branding and artist development. She teaches the wins, the mistakes and the lessons she wishes someone had explained sooner, without promising overnight success or asking artists to copy her career.

No. AYV is designed to meet you where you are, whether you are planning your first release or have been putting music out and want to make more progress.
Independent artists can build audiences, release music, book performances and develop income without signing to a traditional label. The course helps you understand the business so you can make informed choices about your career, your team and opportunities.
The self-paced course includes lifetime access. Work through the modules on your own schedule and revisit lessons and resources as your music career evolves.
Both options include the complete 12-module course and lifetime access. The self-paced option is for artists who want to work independently. The coaching option adds 12 weeks of private one-on-one coaching, personalized strategy, accountability and support applying AYV to your career.
Artist development is the practical work that helps a musician build a clear identity, reach and connect with an audience, improve live and professional opportunities, understand the music business, and make sustainable career decisions. AYV covers these areas across 12 connected modules, from branding and promotion to gigs, income, industry relationships and artist wellbeing.
Start with your current music, goals and capacity. Clarify your artist brand, identify the audience you want to reach, choose one or two career priorities, then plan the actions, budget and time you can realistically commit. Track meaningful signals, review what worked and adjust. AYV helps independent artists connect these building blocks into a practical career roadmap.
Start by developing your music and a clear artist identity, then build a consistent presence, share releases with intention, perform where your audience can find you, and learn the business skills behind promotion, income and professional relationships. You do not have to wait for a record label to start taking those steps.
Choose a clear identity and audience, share music and context consistently, invite genuine interaction, and build direct connections beyond a single social platform. Repeat the approaches that lead to meaningful engagement, return listeners and real-world support. A fanbase grows through ongoing relationships, not a guaranteed shortcut.
Build a release plan around the song’s story, audience and next step. Prepare your artist profile and assets, share varied content before and after release, invite listeners to engage directly, and connect online promotion to shows, mailing lists or other ways to support your career. AYV teaches the fundamentals without claiming one tactic works for every artist.
Share more than release links: performance clips, songwriting or recording moments, the ideas behind a song, your perspective as an artist, show information and genuine invitations for fans to respond. Choose formats you can sustain and give each post a clear purpose instead of trying to be everywhere.
There is no posting frequency that guarantees growth. Choose a schedule you can maintain alongside writing, rehearsing, performing and other work. A few purposeful posts and real conversations can be more useful than frequent content that does not support your artist identity or goals.
Prepare a concise live pitch and professional links, identify venues or events that fit your audience and set, and contact bookers with relevant details such as your music, live experience, location and draw. Build relationships, follow up appropriately and keep strengthening your show. The right approach varies by market and opportunity.
Income options vary with an artist’s skills, audience and career stage. Musicians may explore live performances, merchandise, teaching, commissions, licensing, partnerships or other services connected to their work. The right mix depends on your music and capacity; AYV helps artists think beyond streaming and understand the business choices involved.
No. Artists can begin building their identity, audience, live experience and business knowledge independently. A label, manager or other professional may become useful for particular goals, but it is important to understand the proposed role, costs, rights and obligations before entering an agreement. AYV is education, not legal or management representation.
Progress is broader than streams or follower counts. Depending on your goals, track repeat listeners, meaningful audience interactions, email signups, show opportunities, ticket sales, collaborations, income sources and whether you are consistently completing the career actions you planned. Choose a few relevant measures and review them over time.
Yes. The AYV course is for independent artists at different stages, including people planning an early release. Learning about branding, promotion, audience development and the music business before launch can help you make more informed plans. You do not need an existing release to get started.
No. AYV provides educational materials and career guidance, but does not guarantee streams, followers, bookings, income, a record deal or any particular outcome. Results depend on many factors outside a course, including your goals, music, actions, market and opportunities.
It is a separate digital handbook priced at $27 on AYV’s official checkout. It covers practical music-business topics such as protecting your music, royalties, contracts, revenue and industry relationships, and includes worksheets, checklists, planners and templates. It is not the same product as the 12-module AYV course.
The self-paced course has a 30-day money-back guarantee. To qualify, complete all 12 course modules and submit your request within 30 calendar days of your original purchase. The guarantee applies to the self-paced course only; see the official terms for full details.
Guarantee details are summarized here for convenience. Review the official AYV terms for the complete refund policy.
